Peacefully passed away on Monday, September 21st, 2015 at St. Catharines Hospital in her 89th year. Edith, beloved wife of the late Frank Hanley, with whom she was married for 50 years. Cherished mother of Joan and her husband Edouard Lajoie. Predeceased by her brothers Art, George and Charles and her sisters Lorraine and Marilyn and her brother-in-law Arthur Munroe Coughtry. Lovingly remembered by her sisters- in- law Louise and Miriam and her many beloved nieces and nephews. Edith and Frank owned the Brock Smoke Shop in Kingston, Ontario for 35 years until their retirement. Both were members of the Kingston Lions Club for over 40 years, and Edith fulfilled every position within the club up to and including President of her Chapter. In 2001 Edith and Frank left Kingston, moving to their home at Martindale Place to be near their only daughter and son in law. Following Frank’s passing, Edith made her home at The Loyalist Retirement Home. In Staying with Edith’s wishes cremation has taken place.

A gathering to Celebrate Edith’s life will be held at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines (905-684-6346), on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. if so desired donations made to Community Care or The Heart and Stroke Foundation in Edith’s memory would be appreciated. Heartfelt thanks to the staff members of the Loyalist Retirement Home for their excellent loving care for the past 6 years. A special thanks to Dr. Chris Lynett and staff, especially for his home visits in the past year.
